The beginning

I first joined ConocoPhillips as an intern during my placement year from University where I was studying for an Accounting and Finance degree. My role was in the Production Management and Reporting group within the UK Commercial department. My main responsibilities were daily and monthly production allocations to the appropriate field owners but I was also involved in a number of small projects throughout the year. This role was a great introduction to ConocoPhillips and their Upstream Business in the North Sea.

In 2012, I re-joined ConocoPhillips on a Finance Graduate recruitment scheme in Aberdeen where I held three separate, one year, rotations whilst studying for my CIMA qualification.

My work with ConocoPhillips

Upon completion of the graduate scheme and qualifying as a Chartered Management Accountant, I moved into Investment Appraisal with responsibility for the Long-Range Plan for the Southern North Sea and East Irish Sea business units.

After this, I moved back into finance and worked in Joint Venture Accounting and then in the SAP team before relocating to London in 2018.

I am currently a Credit and Finance Analyst in the London Commercial Finance team. This role has a wide range of responsibilities including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and assessing credit exposure.

Career development

My career to date has been focused in the finance function of ConocoPhillips. The move to London in 2018 allowed me to develop new skills in the Commercial organisation and has provided me with an exposure to the trading organisation within Europe Commercial as well as helping me build a global ConocoPhillips support network.

I have been fortunate enough to have moved roles every 1-2 years and the company has always been supportive in developing my career in line with my goals and aspirations.

The future

Even though I am enjoying my current role and life in London, I am looking forward to the opportunities the future may bring, some of which may include relocation to other ConocoPhillips business units.
