The company first established its business in Norway in 1965 and has since achieved a pioneering legacy with the discovery of Ekofisk in 1969. Today, ConocoPhillips operates all fields in the Greater Ekofisk Area and has ownership interests in several other fields on the Norwegian continental shelf. The company also has an active exploration program and participates in several development projects.

ConocoPhillips’ Norway business unit is managed from its main office in the Sola municipality and has about 1,600 employees in Norway. About half of these work from the Tananger offices, while the other half of about 850 work on the fields offshore in the Greater Ekofisk Area in southern part of the North Sea. In addition, the business unit has about 200 employees who support the Teesside Operations Terminal in the UK.
