Job Summary

Teesside Operations

The ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane. 

The terminal’s success is built on its high performing workforce and can provide opportunities throughout your career to progress and continually develop. With ongoing production from Ekofisk and Eldfisk, other redeveloped fields and new exploration projects in the works, the future looks bright as we prepare for a lifetime to 2050.

Working within the Terminal Capital Project team and reporting to the Project Engineering Lead, the role will have responsibility for ensuring the Mechanical designs are within specification and compliance with regulatory and company standards and will monitor the design throughout the engineering phases of the project life cycle.

The ideal candidate will hold a minimum BSc degree level qualification in relevant discipline (ideally chartered) and have demonstrable technical engineering and project delivery experience gained from working within the oil and gas, chemical or other regulated industry.

The position is offered on a fixed term staff contract - expected duration of two years.

Job Description

Primary Role Objectives

  • Regulatory and Company compliance 
  • Attend and actively contribute in technical mechanical discipline meetings 
  • Day-to-day contact with contractors’ mechanical engineers 
  • Selection and evaluation of technology, identifying integration and infrastructure issues 
  • Implement procedures and standards 
  • Follow up contractors’ evaluation of technology and provide necessary interface with Operations during design stages 
  • Report technical deviations 
  • Present proposals and alternative solutions when required 
  • Attend inter-discipline technical meetings 
  • Attend technical audits as requested by Management 
  • Process and follow up technical queries from contractors and Operations 
  • Actively support other disciplines to ensure inter-discipline coherence and experience transfer 
  • Participate in project risk management process 
  • Participate in HAZID and HAZOP meetings 

Skills, Experience & Competencies

Basic Requirements

  • Chartered Engineer / Engineer (BSc) (Less formal education may be compensated with documented relevant experience) 
  • Mechanical engineering experience including Projects and/or Operations
