The Contract Negotiator is responsible for providing commercial contract management in support of ConocoPhillips’ Commercial Organization.

Job Description

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Negotiating and drafting single- or multi-commodity master trading agreements (NAESB, EEI, WSPP, ISDA, etc.) with counterparties
  • Ensuring timely execution and review of contracts
  • Working closely with Commercial Traders, Credit, Compliance, and Legal to accurately prepare and send trade confirmations, and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Managing contracts and ensuring compliance throughout the term of the agreement
  • Developing recommendations on contract negotiations, amendments, proposals, etc.
  • Developing a strong understanding of the trade business and ensuring complex non-standard trades are accurately reflected in trading systems
  • Developing expertise in trading systems and working with IT on innovative automation solutions and enhancements
  • Providing support for various special projects

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Admin/Mgmt, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
  • 1 or more years of experience working in a professional office environment
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS O365 applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams

Preferred:

  • 3 or more years oil and gas experience
  • 1 or more years of experience developing contracts and agreements
  • 1 or more years of experience contract negotiating and/or commercial evaluation
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of commercial trading, contract negotiations, and the confirmation processes
  • Intermediate proficiency in commercial trading systems (CXL, RightAngle), ICE eConfirm, and Quorum
  • Networking/interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals internally and externally
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven continuous improvement focused skillset
  • Leads by example and influence, and then acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
  • Balances a strong sense of teamwork with the ability to work independently across divisions with a high level of self-initiative and drive
