Job Summary

The ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane. 

The terminal’s success is built on its high performing workforce and can provide opportunities throughout your career to progress and continually develop. With ongoing production from Ekofisk and Eldfisk, other redeveloped fields and new exploration projects in the works, the future looks bright as we prepare for a lifetime to 2050.

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor and working as part of our team of engineering technicians, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment

Job Description

Mechanical Technician

  • To interpret job requirements from preventative maintenance instruction, specifications and / or other documentation
  • Install mechanical equipment in accordance with established standards, limits, fits, tolerances, procedures, and guidelines
  • Fault Finding knowledge in the overhaul & repair of Hydraulic systems
  • Understanding of the testing and repair of Safety Relief valves
  • Support the ISSOW process and adopt the role of Permit Acceptor as appropriate
  • Provide feedback on all maintenance tasks to allow collation of asset history, whether that be written, electronic or verbal
  • Diagnose physical cause of mechanical equipment breakdown / failure and propose / complete repairs to the site standards and engage technical resources as needed to support operations
  • Create SAP notifications for defects
  • Respond to any out of hours call out where required
  • Prepare jobs for execution in support of the schedule under direction of the supervisor, as part of fall-back work including but not limited to checking scaffold, withdrawing spares, preparing tools etc


Competency Requirements

  • Relevant approved apprenticeship/NVQ level 3 or equivalent – Essential
  • Minimum City & Guilds / ONC certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent – Essential
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of hydraulic systems, valves, fin fan coolers, heat exchangers and relief valves – Essential
  • Extensive experience in a maintenance role within the oil and gas industry – Desirable
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate – Essential
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages and SAP – Essential
  • Appropriate Physical and Mental Capability to undertake the role (Work at Height, Work in Confined Spaces, Ability to wear Breathing Apparatus) – Essential
