Position Overview

ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.

The ConocoPhillips Engineering Internship for 2025-26 offers an exciting opportunity for driven and enthusiastic penultimate-year engineering students to join the following areas:

  • Chemical Engineering Team
  • Instrument, Control & Electrical Engineering Team

During the 12-week paid internship, from 24 November 2025 to 20 February 2026, you can expect to:

  • Work with professionals in the field, including multiple site visits to the Australia Pacific LNG facility in Gladstone, Queensland.
  • Complete technical work tasks and projects to support your ongoing development.
  • Gain experience using the latest engineering software.
  • Further develop your collaboration, research, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Work in an encouraging, hands-on, and FUN learning environment.

About You

You bring a learning and growth mindset and have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the energy sector, including:

  • Being an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Being in the penultimate year of a Bachelor of Engineering, majoring in Chemical or Electrical.
  • Alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT values.
  • A strong desire to learn and improve your professional and technical engineering skills.
  • Availability to work full-time in Brisbane from 24 November 2025 to 20 February 2026.
  • Availability to travel to the Australia Pacific LNG facility in Gladstone, Queensland, to undertake site visits.
