Description

As a Land GIS Analyst you will support Land Asset Teams by digitizing GIS spatial elements, generating and plotting land maps, monitoring, maintaining, and manipulating land spatial databases, maintaining mapping standards. Land GIS Analysts provide training in GIS theory and the functionality of ArcGIS Pro and ArcPro Server. They also have the opportunity to conduct research and analysis of GIS data relevant to the L48 Land groups, and gathering and displaying third-party data and spatial elements within the mapping systems.

Assignments will typically be at our sites located in Houston, TX; Midland, TX; or Bartlesville, OK.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Generating, revising and updating maps to assist Land efforts using ArcGIS Pro and WebMap mapping tools
  • Keeping current on mapping applications, technology and data availability to support Land needs
  • Incorporating 3rd party data, as needed, into company owned databases for mapping purposes
  • Assisting with setting and maintaining standards for mapping in Land Group
  • Manipulating and refining spatial databases for Land analysis
  • Mentoring and teaching mapping skills to the Land staff
  • Determining and implementing appropriate projection for asset projects
  • Managing shape files to ensure ConocoPhillips processes are followed
  • Participating in the Land Mapping Users Group
  • Researching data issues and resolving inquires for mapping and information requests
  • Providing functional excellence guidance by identifying value adding activities and standard processes

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Management Information Systems, other related field, or foreign equivalent
  • Expected graduation date: Fall 2025 or Spring/Fall 2026

Preferred:

  • Willing to work in either of these locations: Houston, TX; Midland, TX; or Bartlesville, OK
  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Previous internships or co-ops in an energy related field
  • Petroleum Land GIS Mapping experience
  • Experience with ArcGIS or ESRI based products and land mapping tools
  • Experience with any of the following Land Systems and Software; Quorum, Business Objects, Spotfire, Drilling Info, Enerdeq, Snowflake, Model Builder, and FME
  • Working knowledge of Oil & Gas leases and Exploration & Production agreements along with their associated provisions
  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
  • Understands how key financial and quantitative indicators impact the business
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right
